I have a question for everyone regarding how we list our service pricing.
It never fails that when I receive an email the first question is availability and rates. I've always believed in being transparent so rates are listed on the services menu of the site. That said- would you as a consumer prefer a pdf emailed to you?
Other artists what do you think?

I did makeup for a really beautiful bride this past Friday August 31st here in Chicago. Congrats Carol and Ken! Thanks to J.N. Imagery for the great preview photos!

Just a few snapshots from some recent trials by Julia, Mary and Sara!!

OMG I just received some photos from Tim Coughlin of Katie and Dave on their big day. BEAUTIFUL!! I just love every one of the shots! I am so happy I was able to be a part of their special day. I just posted the formal photos in my portfolio under bridal so go check them out! I did the makeup on the entire bridal party and the mother of the bride and groom.
Congrats to everyone!

Tattoo coverage is still a hot topic for wedding days! Here are some more photos from Gina's big day. This tattoo is on Gina's shoulder. Her dress was strapless and her hair was all the way up. She was so excited to please the parents and grandparents by hiding her tattoo. With confidence we covered the entire image with no transferring for her wedding.

For the most part we always recommend that you have two artists- one for hair and one for makeup. There are several reasons why. Most importantly it has to do with timing. We have the hair and makeup routine of a bridal party down to a science. There are a lot of things that can change how that timing goes and having only one artist do both things is an easy way to become derailed. Two artists just provides more focus to get their creative juices flowing!
Of course there are always exceptions to this rule! This weekend Sara attended a wedding in Ohio where she did both the hair AND makeup for the bridal party. GO Sara! Stephanie's look turned out perfect- our very favorite: soft romantic makeup and hair. More pictures to come soon!

Ok so this weekend I had the pleasure of doing makeup for the beautiful Michelle for her mehndi ceremony Friday and her wedding Saturday! You will see lots of pictures of the beautiful Michelle and her bridal makeup because she and her lucky hubby are having a second Catholic ceremony in October as well.
Michelle had her hands and feet done on Thursday so that on Friday as all her girl friends had their mehndi done she could interact with the group and have fun. When I arrived Friday I immediately fell in love with the detail in these temporary works of art. I want to learn how to do this! What I fun tradition to celebrate your union. So amazing! I look forward to sharing more photos of Michelle and her amazing weddings.

Currently in the process of gathering photos from brides over the last year. We are going to continue to share snap shots in the blog but are creating a photo gallery for all the lovely pro photos. I can NOT WAIT to share some of these weddings with you! For instance Jill:
Jill and Fred were married in August 2010. Their ceremony was in the courtyard of the amazing venue A New Leaf. Everything about the day was so beautiful. Jill's custom gown and their handmade branch-like rings really gave the look a personal feel. Her makeup was a clean natural and glowing look. No one could miss her naturally long lashes! Pro pictures coming soon but for now:

I LOVE a good wedding but even I must admit that the never ending coverage is a bit much.
Of course the big industry buzz is that Kate did her own makeup. Now before all you brides out there start thinking about DIY makeup- she had lessons!! That's right. Bridal and photographed makeup really is a little different than your every day eye liner so taking some lessons before your big day is a must for all you do it yourselfers out there! We offer lessons from the PrettyWindyCIty team- check out the services page for more info!
Of course one of the reasons that I love doing bridal parties so much is that I like to be able to create the calm within the storm. Weddings can be hectic even for the most put together group so to be able to instill a sense of calm for my brides is the best gift I can give. I would hate to see brides lean toward lessons versus having their makeup done. It's such a peaceful part of the day!
